Script Advice with Yvonne Grace

Script Advice with Yvonne Grace

Over four days and two consecutive weekends, both online and in person, the course analyses and discusses the role of the script editor within the high-end drama production process; using real examples from dramas I have produced and those that are currently transmitting. Using real commissioned examples of television scripts and treatments supplied by me and my contacts in the industry, I will show how to take a writer’s creative ideas in treatment form and translate them into script form.

About Script Advice with Yvonne Grace

Since 2017, I have been running a hybrid (online and can also be attended in person at my cottage in East Sussex) script editing for television course, which fills a much needed skills gap. This four day course is always intensive, fun, and packed with information. It is important to me to convey how essential this job is to ensure the continued high standard of series television drama production in this country.

Focusing on the control and development of high-end television (HETV) series and serial narratives, this course has proven to be successful in bringing a fresh and consistent flow of new and burgeoning script development talent entering at ground level, direct into the television Industry.

During the span of four days, over two weekends, participants will learn how to approach the long running narrative firstly via a masterclass delivered by me and then we will work with script reports, treatments and outlines, and study transmitted scripts from current and past HETV series and serials. I also use examples of my own written and produced work. There will be a Q and A with a key industry producer and also an indepth script edit session with a professional writer on an early draft of their own work.

Finally we will address the skill base needed to understand storylining and how this is done in all HETV. Participants also will be able take away a free copy of one of my best selling books: Writing for Television, Series, Serials and Soaps and or From Creation to Pitch, How to Write Stories for Television That Sell.
