Bursaries for underrepresented groups in unscripted High-end TV

The ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund is offering the chance for those working in Unscripted HETV from underrepresented groups and low socio-economic backgrounds to apply for a bursary of up to £4,000.

ScreenSkills is committed to creating a more diverse, equal and inclusive workforce. This funding aims to provide financial support to professionals with the below characteristics working in unscripted HETV to retain talent for the future, aid current working environments and assist career development.

Successful applicants must have at least one of the following characteristics: 

• be from a minority ethnic group
• identify as deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent
• have another form of physical health issue
• be diagnosed with a mental health issue
• come from a low-socio economic background

Who it's for

Roles might include but are not limited to:

• production coordinators
• production managers
• researchers
• assistant producers
• producer directors
• producers
• series producers

These bursaries are not available to new entrants and you must have at least two credits in Unscripted HETV to be considered.

High-end TV is defined as TV projects with UK production budgets of at least £1m per episode. 

Funding is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis and is limited. The closing date will be brought forward once all funding has been allocated. 

What it covers

Funding can be claimed for: 

• Training (short, non-academic courses which conclude no later than 30th June 2025)
• Mentoring
• Accommodation (up to £140 a night in London, up to £100 a night outside London)
• Travel (e.g. train fares or mileage @ 45p per mile)
• Shadowing
• Salary​​​ (cover when training/shadowing, applicants must be employed as salary costs can't be speculative)
• Equipment and kit
• Software licensing

If requesting funding for training we recommend you choose a course that is at least four weeks ahead of your bursary application.

All requested funds must be inclusive of VAT.
