Edit producing for future series producers
- Are you producer-level but with limited experience of edit producing?
- Have you found it hard to get into the edit and want to learn what goes on in there in order to progress your career?
- Or have you been out of the industry for a while for caring responsibilities or other reasons, and need to up-skill in the latest edit systems, workflow and technology?
If so, this training programme could be for you. Following on from last year's highly successful programme, we're back to run a second instance of Edit producing for future SPs.
This training aims to up-skill 20 producers who've faced barriers when it comes to getting into the edit. With training running part-time over several weeks, both online and in-person, each trainee will master the art of edit producing including learning how to manage rushes, schedules and workflow, work with an editor, find and tell the story, take on board feedback as well as gaining ever-more important Avid editing proficiency.
The training will include a four-week work-shadowing placement in an edit, on an existing production, as well as masterclasses with industry experts and a full group in-person networking event.
The training will be led by unscripted exec and experienced edit producing trainer, Jo Woolf, along with other guests including Avid editing trainer, Nigel Honey.
The Edit producing for future series producers programme is supported by the ScreenSkills Unscripted TV Skills Fund which invests in training for the unscripted workforce thanks to contributions from BBC, Channel 4, Sky, Hearst Networks UK, Discovery UK, Channel 5, Netflix, ITV, Amazon, UKTV and S4C matched by production companies.
Who it's for
We’re taking on 20 trainees from around the UK who want and need to learn more about edit producing.
This course is designed for those who are experienced at Producer level, but who've specialised in development, casting or the shoot and can’t easily get their foot into the door of the edit. It’s also aimed at those returners who’ve taken time out of the industry for caring responsibilities or other reasons and need to upskill on the latest edit systems.
