Have you ever dreamt of working in film or TV? Would you love to work on programmes such as Peaky Blinders, Small Axe, Doctors, Great British Menu, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games or The Gadget Show?

Are you over 18 and not in full-time education as of 1 September 2021? 

Are you based in the West Midlands?

Do you work in an industry with transferable skills, such as events, logistics, accounting, office management, decorating, IT, engineering, electrics, or hair and make-up? 

Or do you have some commitment to making films such as student film, community project, runner and/or work experience in TV or film already?

If the answer to these questions is YES then this FREE to attend short course Get into Film and TV West Midlands, supported by ScreenSkills, and delivered by Mission Accomplished in partnership with Create Central, is for you. 

What is 'Get into Film and TV West Midlands'?

This short training course takes place online over one day and is for anyone looking to break into the world of Feature Films or TV and is based in the West Midlands. 

Over the course of the day you will be introduced to: 

  • How the film industry works
  • How a film/TV set operates
  • You will meet experts who work in film and TV in the region
  •  What it means to be freelance 
  • Sector specific CV and portfolio advice

We are particularly interested in participants looking to work in Hair/Make-up, Art Department, Costume, Floor/AD, Locations, Production Office, Cameras, Sound, Lighting, Vision Engineering and Editing.

We are working to develop an inclusive workforce in film and television and strongly encourage applications from under-represented groups, particularly those from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds or those who consider themselves disabled.

A passion for making a career in film and/or TV is the main criteria we are looking for in all applicants.

Places are limited - early applications are encouraged and will be considered before the deadline. Application deadline is 11pm on Tuesday 21 September 2021. Applicants will be notified on or before 24 September 2021.

Training will take place online on Saturday 2 October 2021.

This training course is supported by ScreenSkills using National Lottery funds awarded by the British Film Institute (BFI) as part of the Future Film Skills programme and is delivered by Mission Accomplished in partnership with Create Central.

Who it's for

This course is open to those who are:

  • Over 18
  • Not in full time education
  • Based in the West Midlands
  • Have done no more than 12 months paid work in Film and/or TV

It is not a requirement of this course to have had any paid experience in Film and/or TV – we are primarily looking for those who have a passion to work in the sector in the West Midlands region.
