HR one-to-one surgeries: Children's TV
We are offering a series of bespoke one-to-one 60-minute HR surgery sessions for independent production companies making live-action children's TV with industry specialist HR consultant, Lisa Balderson.
Each session will be tailored around the individual’s specific needs, addressing any of the many challenges of making sure your company is legally compliant in terms of contracts, policies, and procedures, to dealing with more specific issues around employee conduct and company culture.
Who it's for
These sessions are for independent production companies making live-action content for Children's TV looking to gain knowledge around general HR compliance, a specific area of HR that is causing an issue, or an area in which they are looking to improve their current offering.

What it covers
Each confidential 60-minute session will be tailored to the specific needs of each individual but can cover all areas of HR and workplace culture that are relevant to the industry.
Some of the typical areas we’d expect to cover include:
- creating a compliant workplace (what you should have in place)
- contracting issues and employment status
- employment rights (who has what)
- employee relations; how to deal with grievance and disciplinary issues
- managing absence
- creating a healthy company culture
Speaker:
Lisa Balderson is an experienced CIPD qualified HR consultant, who provides freelance support to film and TV indies. Initially working in awards, festivals and programming, Lisa has more than 15 years' experience in the film and TV industry, and has experience of HR from both sides, including within production environments. She is extremely familiar with the culture of these industries, how they work, and how HR practices can be implemented in this specific space.
She has previously worked for organisations such as BAFTA; BFI (London Film Festival/BFI Flare and TV Programming dept.); BBC; and Lion Television.

- When asked to list your three most recent credits, please include the programme title and your job role
- When asked what you hope to gain from the course, please be concise but ensure you cover the specific elements of the topic you would like to gain knowledge of and what gaps in your skillset you believe the course may address
