Introduction to post production for series producers in unscripted TV

As part of the Mind your business strand, we're offering training in in a range of areas related to business management & development, production finance, legal & business affairs, rights, and compliance, giving individuals the tools needed to thrive in their chosen field in unscripted TV. 

A practical course covering the essentials of post production for series producers. The first session provides an oversight of the post production process from starting post to workflows to viewings to tech specs and delivery (this session will also include PMs on the Intro to Post for PMs course).

The second session will cover post schedules; planning for post during pre-production and production; managing a shoot/edit overlap; managing multiple edits & edit producers; viewings including how to address notes; compliance and common curveballs.

Series producers, edit producers and producer/directors in unscripted TV keen to learn more about the post process.

Trainers

Kirsty Painter has over 20 years experience in factual and entertainment production, working on headline hitting, award winning series' for the likes of RDF, Endemol, Ricochet and ITV. With hundreds of hours of edit experience under her belt and having recently moved from series edit producing to post production business development, Kirsty brings a wealth of knowledge to this course.

Viki Carter has over 20 years experience in unscripted production management, currently working as a freelance production consultant / trainer. She has worked across multiple genres ranging from feature documentaries to live studio to entertainment to archive to competition formats. Viki has significant experience in post production including overseeing multiple edits, fast turnarounds and delivering up against TX. She also worked for a short time as a post producer at an edit house.  

The majority of the USF online short course offering is for those at early career stage and above. As a result, we generally require applicants to have at least three credits (unless working in a traditionally uncredited role). If you strongly feel you would still benefit from the training, please email USF@screenskills.com so we can assess if an exception should be made.
