Production paperwork for editorial teams
As part of the Mind Your Business strand, we're offering training in a range of areas related to business management & development, production finance, legal & business affairs, rights, and compliance, giving individuals the tools needed to thrive in their chosen field in unscripted TV.
Being a member of the editorial team means you will be working incredibly closely with the production management team to set up shoots and ensure the post-production process runs smoothly. A huge part of the production management team’s role is completing paperwork at all stages of the production. But what paperwork does the production management team complete and how can you support them with this while working in your editorial role? What do you need to provide the team with in order for them to put together a call sheet? How do you complete an expense form? What information do you need to provide the team with for them to complete the post-production paperwork that the broadcaster requires?
This course will give you an overview of what paperwork needs to be completed at all stages of a production and what impact you have in the editorial team in providing the information required for these. We’ll also look at why the production management team needs to complete this paperwork from a contractual and legal point of view. It will include practical examples and exercises as well as guidance and the chance to ask questions throughout.
Who it's for
This course is aimed at anyone working in the editorial team, from researchers, assistant producers, producers, series producers up to executive producers who want to learn more about how they can support their production management team with this paperwork.
The majority of the USF online short course offering is for those at early career stage and above. As a result, we generally require applicants to have at least 3 credits (unless working in a traditionally uncredited role). If you strongly feel you would still benefit from the training, please email USF@screenskills.com so we can assess if an exception should be made.
We are committed to ensuring all our courses are accessible to everyone. This course is designed to be as interactive as possible.
