The Select Sessions are a series of online employability training sessions for students studying on ScreenSkills Select endorsed courses. They provide you with professional advice on a range of topics direct from industry and focus on supporting you to gain the best opportunity for a successful career in the screen industries.
ScreenSkills has a series of e-learning modules on Getting into the screen industries which are a prerequisite for attending any Select Session event.
Who it's for
This online session is exclusively for ScreenSkills Select students interested in careers in games, animation and VFX.
We are also running sessions for those interested in careers in film and TV and you can explore the full programme on the Select Student Hub.
What it covers
A session looking at entry-level job opportunties beyond the games industry, delivered by NextGen Skills Academy.
This sessions aims to open the eyes and minds of students who are currently studying game design or game art to the opportunities beyond the game industry. The visualisation and design skills you are learning are hugely valuable elsewhere so we want you to know about your options! The panel will answer questions about their industries, the opportunities in design, visualisation and storytelling, and touch on entry level roles and the skills they are looking for.
This session will be hosted by Marcia Deakin, co-founder of NextGen Skills Academy.

- Dan Lusby, Motion Designer for the museums and heritage sector
- Karl Woolley, Global Head of Immersive at Framestore
- Phil Stilgoe, CEO at Centroid
- Samer El Sayary, assistant professor of architecture and award winning architect
- Sergio Irigoyen, Head of Realtime at Framestore
How to apply
This session will take place online via Zoom. Click ‘Get ticket’ and follow the instructions to book your place: you must login or register before you are able to complete your booking.
If you are no longer able to attend, we ask you to please use the 'cancel your ticket' function on the right hand side of the page so that we can release your place to somebody else.
