The Select Sessions are a series of online employability training sessions for students studying on ScreenSkills Select endorsed courses. They provide you with professional advice on a range of topics direct from industry and focus on supporting you to gain the best opportunity for a successful career in the screen industries.  

ScreenSkills has a series of e-learning modules on Getting into the screen industries which are a prerequisite for attending any Select Session event. 

Who it's for

This online session is exclusively for ScreenSkills Select students interested in careers in games, animation and VFX.

We are also running sessions for those interested in careers in film and TV and you can explore the full programme on the Select Student Hub

What it covers

This session will introduce you to the North West VFX studio Realtime, discussing who we are, what we do, and what we stand for. You will see the kind of projects we work on and clients we work with. Following that we will give tips and advice for what we like to see at Realtime from an application/CV, showreel/portfolio, and interviews. We will also discuss the new Level Up Trainee Scheme that we are launching and how to get on it, and why it is great way of getting into the industry.

This session is led by Sam Taylor, Head of Skills and Development at Realtime. Sam leads the junior training programme, supporting and managing new recruits on their first few projects at the studio. He is responsible for training current staff across new areas and software packages and also for reaching out and building connections with universities and training programmes. 

How to apply

This session will take place online via Zoom. Click ‘Get ticket’ and follow the instructions to book your place: you must login or register before you are able to complete your booking.

If you are no longer able to attend, we ask you to please use the “cancel your ticket” function on the right hand side of the page so that we can release your place to somebody else.
