Toon Boom animation training: Cut Out Animation

Are you passionate about animation? Elevate your skills and career prospects with our professional Toon Boom animation training courses tailored for individuals aged 18 and above.

For 30 years, Toon Boom artists have produced some of the most memorable productions ever made. Toon Boom animation software helps artists and studios worldwide to tell their stories in any style of animation, creatively and efficiently from indie productions to major feature films for the big or the small screen. 

ScreenSkills and Animation Associates are running three of these courses, with this first one focused on Cut Out Animation. For the courses on Introduction to Rigging and Technical Direction, please follow the links.

Perfect for those familiar with basic animation principles, this course, conducted over 10 sessions, explores Harmony Premium to teach the fundamentals of digital cut-out animation. Dive into keyframes, puppet animation, and production techniques, empowering you to confidently navigate the world of cut-out animation.

This training initiative is supported by the ScreenSkills Animation Skills Fund, with contributions from UK animation productions.

Who it's for

These three courses are designed for individuals in or aspiring to join the animation industry, offering technical knowledge essential for excelling in the field.

Cut Out Animation is intended for animators who are new to cut-out (rigged character animation) animation but are familiar with basic animation principles. Can be Early stage careers.

The courses are not open to students or individuals in full time education. Each course has a different target.

What it covers

The format of this course is instructor-led and includes hands-on activity. Each class will be limited to 12 people and run over two weeks split into 10 x 3.5 hour online sessions.

You will be required to provide your own computer with a stable internet connection and ideally a graphics tablet for design work. Software and training resources will be provided
