About
Solange is a passionate documentary filmmaker with British and Brazilian dual nationality. Having started her career studying Documentary Film at the University of Wales, Newport, she has continued to gain a wide range of production and storytelling experience over the past 18 years in the industry. Working on BAFTA and Emmy award winning programmes for the BBC, Netflix and Discovery, among others. Solange has had the opportunity to work across many genres ranging from observational social films, anthropology and later specialising in Blue Chip Natural History.
Having worked on complex foreign shoots and honed her narrative skills, Solange was able to consolidate all this experience through the ScreenSkills Make a Move Programme to direct and produce Impact campaigns for Netflix. Solange hopes that by taking part in ScreenSkills Leaders of Tomorrow she will be able to build on this even further, to produce and direct longer formats and try out different documentary genres. Her end goal is to become a series producer and hopes that with Leaders of Tomorrow, she will have access to inspiring industry professionals through mentorships and placements that will help her progress and achieve her ambitions.
Leaders of Tomorrow is a three-year inclusion programme for mid-level professionals. Participants are nominated by senior colleagues in high-end TV. Solange’s nominator Hana Canter said: "Solange is an extraordinary creative force and exceptional storyteller. Her nomination for the Leaders of Tomorrow programme is a testament to her ability to think innovatively and with a passion that is infectious to everyone she works with."
