About
As Head of Business Development for Zealous, Akua connects with companies in the creative and commercial industries, identifying potential opportunities for delivering services, as well as developing new projects to build the company's network. So far Akua produced Zealous X 2013, a 3 day event at Bargehouse Oxo Tower Wharf. She has also helped several creative organisations access talent online including: FloatArt, InShort Film Festival, Upswing and Shakespeare’s Globe.
Akua is also working in film, having assisted, coordinated or produced on a range of projects including a feature, several shorts and music videos. She launched, Kind Productions in 2012. Her most recent production, Roxanne (Written & Directed by Paul Frankl) was enabled by Absolut Vodka and is currently being screened on the festival circuit East End Film Festival, Rhode Island Film Festival, Queens World Film Festival and Palm Springs International ShortsFest.
Trained in Performing Arts, followed by a minor stint in newspaper advertising sales, Akua developed her appreciation for having a ‘birds eye view’ on creative process. After studying arts administration she established a career comprised of roles from Project Co-ordinator to General Manager, through several arts organisations (C Venues, BAC, IWF, Central School of Speech & Drama, Watermans), eventually becoming Administrative Director of Kazzum, producing touring theatre for children and young people.
Working with Zealous allows Akua to access a breadth of creative disciplines and organisations. She enjoys the challenges of developing a new business and is passionate about fostering new opportunities.
