About
Caolán is an experienced location assistant working across film and high-end TV drama with a clear ambition to progress to assistant location manager. With an academic background in economics and sustainability, Caolán changed his professional trajectory to work as a runner on live events, where he quickly progressed to assistant stage manager. Caolán made the transition to film and TV after live events shut down due to the COVID pandemic and has found his home in the locations department, where he has been working for the past several years.
Having overcome significant personal adversity in his early life, Caolán is a strong advocate for greater inclusivity in the industry, particularly for those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. This is reflected in his own career to date, using his life experiences to creatively solve difficult problems that may arise during productions.
Caolán is currently a HETV Leader of Tomorrow. Participants in the three-year inclusion programme for mid-level professionals are nominated by senior colleagues in high-end TV. His nominator Adam Wilkinson said: "Caolán holds many of the traits of a future leader such as problem-solving skills, empathy and adaptability. His innovative thinking and capacity to inspire nurtures an environment of growth amongst his peers. Caolán shows a commitment to learning, overcoming adversity and a knack for connecting with diverse perspectives, Caolán stands poised to become a Leader of Tomorrow."
