About
Rob has been a camera operator and steadicam operator in film and high-end TV for the past 16 years, having worked his way through the camera department. His background is in fine art, where he studied at Central St Martins, before entering the film industry. Originally from London, he now lives in Manchester with his wife and children.
Over the past four years, Rob has been stepping up into a DOP role, shooting feature film Consecration, as well as numerous 2nd unit DOP credits, which most recently include The Jetty, This Town, and Alex Rider. He has also covered main unit DOPs on high-end TV (HETV) dramas. Through the ScreenSkills Leaders of Tomorrow programme, he is looking for the opportunity to meet cinematographers and find further work placements, so he can build on his knowledge and fulfil his ambition of working full-time as a DOP.
Leaders of Tomorrow is a three-year inclusion programme for mid-level professionals. Participants are nominated by senior colleagues in high-end TV. Rob’s nominator Ben Wheeler said: "Rob Hart is one of the very best camera operators and frequent collaborators I’ve had the pleasure of working with. His passion, flare, artistic eye for the story and wonderful temperament could not be more suited to becoming a super star DP of the future. I am over the moon to nominate him for the brilliant Leaders of Tomorrow programme and cannot wait to continue to assist him on his journey."
