Max Clendaniel is a writer-director who has made a wide range of award winning scripts and short films. On top of his personal projects, he has been a shooting director for companies such as the BFI, Topman, Gfinity, and ShortsTV.

His student film, ‘Will and the Worry Dolls’ screened at NFFTY, Seattle True Independent Film Festival and the Derby City Film Festival.

Max’s follow up short film, ‘Nonsense’ screened at Sandvika Film Festival, Hollyshorts, Deaffest, Seattle Deaf Film Festival, and the International Deaf Film Festival of Argentina.

In 2015, Max took part in the Colchester 60 Hour Film Challenge where he made his third short, ‘Stranger Side’. The film has screened at Wendy’s Shorts and won ‘Best Mini Documentary’ at Texas Ultimate Shorts.

Over the last four years, Max has been a shooting director for the short film channel, ShortsTV. This includes traveling to various film festivals such as Cannes, The Oscars and The Netherlands Film Festival to interview filmmakers nominated for awards as well as celebrities such as Danny Devito.

In 2014, Max shot the only footage of Benedict Cumberbatch photobombing U2 on the Oscars red carpet. The online video went viral with over one million views and has been featured on Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Metro, Telegraph, Today, BBC America and ranked 3rd place on Channel 4’s Funniest Clips of 2014.

Along with Max’s directing experience, he is also an award-winning writer. In 2014 he won two writing competitions awards through IdeasTap. One award allowed him to attend BBC Writersroom workshops and write a tv pilot which received professional feedback from BBC executives.

For his second award, he was chosen amongst 300 contestants to be mentored by film development executive Alexandra Arlango (Co-producer, THE DUCHESS, SEVERANCE) to write a feature film over the course of six months.

He is currently writing his third feature entitled, 'Stuck' a comedy heist set in Canada.
