About
Hattie knew she wanted worked in TV from a young age. When she was 17, she spent her summer working in the script department for ‘Shameless’ editing scripts and sitting in story development meetings. From that point on, she knew that’s what she wanted to do as a career. After studying English Literature at university, she pursued opportunities within TV development, earning a work experience placement with The Blair Partnership – a literary agency that optioned books to develop into television. Wanting a more hands-on role, Hattie was encouraged to look at Production and recognised several skills she could put to use. After a short work experience placement in a Production Office for a BBC Drama, Hattie secured a role as a rushes runner on a period drama for Amazon Prime and hasn’t looked back.
She has now climbed steadily through the ranks of Production over the last 8 years progressing from Rushes Runner to Production Manager. Over the course of almost 3 years, Hattie’s experience in Production Management has gone from strength to strength as she worked on multiple HETV dramas for a range of broadcasters – her most recent credit is as Production Manager on ‘House of Guinness’ (Kudos for Netflix). She takes great pride in leading her Production team, confidently handling budgets and creating a smooth, enjoyable and well organised Production from prep through to wrap.
She is most proud of her work on Productions which have tackled challenging content and promoted diversity. She worked on Floodlights – a 90-minute episode for BBC highlighting the child abuse scandal within professional football, as well as ‘Ridley Road’ which put a spotlight on Britain’s dark history with Neo-Nazism in the 1960s. She was also part of the team that worked on ‘Ralph and Katie’ – one of the first dramas to have 2 actors with Down’s Syndrome as the lead characters and which won the RTS North West award for Best Inclusive Practice.
Hattie is keen to continue using her experience to create environments both and on off set which promote inclusivity, accessibility and diversity and to help produce stories which aren’t afraid to tackle these topics.
