Coming from an ex-coalmining community my films are inspired by the Northern landscape and my visual storytelling evokes poetic and cinematic depictions of everyday places. My first film, This Charming Man was about my father an ex-coalminer and inventor of the horse jacuzzi.

I have made award winning films for Film4, Channel 4, Creative England, British Film Institute, The Arts Council of England and Yorkshire TV. Premiering at International film festivals around the world: TIFF, Berlin, Busan, Encounters, Aesthetica, Rotterdam, Melbourne amongst others. Winning Grand Prize for Live Action at Oscar Qualifying, Rhodes Island. I was selected for Creative England’s I-Shorts, Creative England, BFI and BBC Films I-Features and the prestigious Guiding Lights mentoring scheme. Recently my debut feature Thirst was shortlisted for Sundance's Screenwriters Lab and selected for Cannes Film Festival / Frontieres Co-Production Market. I have a slate of Film & TV projects in development.
