Focus Puller
Sarah has worked in the camera department as a trainee, loader and focus puller since graduating from WSCAD with a specialised degree in camera & lighting. She has a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years. She has cultivated and maintained strong working relationships with a number of DOPs over the years such as Gary Shaw, Jaimie Cairney BSC and Julian Court BSC. The same is true with operators such as Daniel Bishop ACO Assoc BSC, Ilana Garrard ACO Assoc BSC, Richard Bradbury ACO GBCT, Joe Russell ACO and Jonathan Tyler ACO. She has furthered her training with the ACO (Association of Camera Operators) attending a number of courses such as handheld, geared and remote heads, and an introduction to steadicam workshops. Sarah also took part in the Make A Move scheme in 2022, mentored by Richard Bradbury ACO GBCT (The Diplomat, Killing Eve), to further her progression from focus puller to camera operator. Sarah is currently a HETV Leader of Tomorrow. Participants in the three-year inclusion programme for mid-level professionals are nominated by senior colleagues in high-end TV. Her nominator Ilana Garrard said: “Sarah has been a committed member of the camera department for even longer than I have been working as a camera operator. When I was asked to nominate a candidate for The Leaders of Tomorrow programme, I saw it as the perfect moment for her to receive recognition and support from an industry to which she has dedicated her heart and soul. I was absolutely thrilled to hear of her selection, as I couldn't think of anyone more deserving of this amazing opportunity.”
