Many of these programmes support individuals who, after classroom training, are looking for placements which will positively impact on these shortage roles in the future by growing capacity and empowering trained and skilled crew.
Placement based funds provide additional funds that you can claim from the High-end TV Skills Fund to upskill crew in shortage areas. Productions can take up to a further 20% for these placements in addition to the 60% allocated to Trainee Finder, Make a Move and Leaders of Tomorrow.

- Training for VFX editors – training to upskill freelance assistant editors looking to become VFX editors within an offline editorial space.
- 1st assistant editor training -training to support and upskill 2nd assistant editors who are ready to become 1st assistant editors in HETV.
- Dolby Atmos training - training to provide professionals with an understanding of configuring Dolby equipment to deliver a Dolby Atmos mix for HETV.

- Trainee grips: training to further the knowledge and ability of grips who are about to step up from being trainees or who have just stepped up (in their 1st year) – new course to be delivered in January 25.

- 1st AD training – training for professionals who are already proficient in Movie Magic Scheduling and currently hold a valid H&S certificate and have completed leadership and management training.
- The guiding principles of departmental budgeting in HETV and film: training to help individuals become comfortable approximating material and labour costs for the purpose of setting an initial budget.
- Getting started in props and set decorating programme: training and placements for individuals keen to learn about starting a career in the set decoration and props departments - applications closed for 24/25.
- Standby art department dressing for camera in HETV and film: training to guide standby art directors in dressing to and for camera - applications closed for 24/25.
- Archive researcher: interactive training on how to be an effective archive researcher.
- VFX management programme: training for non VFX professionals (PMS, producers, showrunners, production accountants) covering production management and editorial training.
- Bursaries - for underrepresented groups in unscripted.
- Editorial training programme - mentoring and placement pilot.
- New regional directors champion programme: for new directing talent to be mentored and championed by established HETV directors for 12 to 18 months to support their career development.

- APOC training programme: refresher course for existing APOCs and those who have recently stepped up to the role. Training to include travel, accommodation and clearances training- applications closed for 24/25.
- Production script editor placements: for those who have who have completed the BECTU Vision Production Script Editor training - applications closed for 24/25.
- Early Entrant Pathways: follow on training to support the existing cohort of Bectu Visions’ Hit the Ground Running programme.

- Stepping up: to support targeted individuals to help them progress their careers via bespoke one-to-one mentoring, training and placements.
- Production management training: training and placements for professionals who have been working as 2nd AD’s or production coordinators in Wales and are ready to make the step into a production management role - applications closed for 24/25.

- Developing local HODs: placements for heads of department working in comedy or in continuing drama in Wales to help them develop key skills and obtain credits on larger high-end TV productions in Wales.
- Script Editor programme: training to provide 15-20 professionals in Wales with an understanding of the tools and skills that are needed to be an effective script editor in HETV within both a development and production team - applications closed for 24/25.

HETV and film Introduction to becoming a VP supervisor - this course acts as an introduction to the principals, pros and cons, methodology and use cases of virtual production. It provides hands-on experience of working on a VP volume in a supervisor role.

HETV and film virtual production taster days for trainees - this training addresses the critical shortage of skills in virtual production techniques among trainees working across departments within high-end television and film. Training covers the latest advancements in VP, including pre-visualisation, real-time rendering, virtual sets, and integration of live-action and CGI elements.
