During February 2025, we are planning to consult with professionals across the nations about the competencies, skills and knowledge that are needed to work in the screen industries relating to roles in productions. This will be done in order to develop brand new National Occupational Standards to reflect what best practice should look like for employees by industry.

We would like to get your feedback on the following new standards:

  • Access Coordination for Productions - which list the practical skills and knowledge needed to support productions to identify and remove potential and actual barriers to access for all staff, cast and crew, to increase the representation of Deaf, Disabled, Neurodivergent and/or Autistic (DDNA) people within the creative industries as an Access Coordinator or Lead Access Coordinator on productions.
  • Intimacy Coordination for Productions – which list the practical skills and knowledge needed too support performers, cast, crew and contributors to facilitate the creation of intimate content for productions, and ensure ongoing consent throughout the production process as an Intimacy Coordinator or Lead Intimacy Coordinator.
  • Sustainability for Productions – which list the practical skills and knowledge needed to interpret, research, advise, implement and monitor sustainable solutions for productions in order to create a measurable reduction in the environmental impacts of productions. These roles will be upskilling the existing crew around them so there is a clear aspect to the role to educate and inspire colleagues and the wider industry as well.

To ensure that the new suite of standards captures what currently is considered best practice in the industry, we encourage industry professionals to contribute their views to these draft standards by giving feedback on the sections relevant to them by midday 26th February 2025 and midday 4th March 2025.

Please view the standards and comment on them following the links below:
