Statement from ScreenSkills following the General Election:

The UK’s screen sector has always thrived when Government and industry have pursued a common goal together - and so ScreenSkills very much looks forward to working with the new Government, and welcomes Labour’s recognition that the creative industries can play a key role in driving economic growth.

We also agree that making sure that the UK can provide and support a diverse workforce with the right skills and capabilities is key to realising the growth potential of the creative industries. We therefore welcome commitments to make changes to the Apprenticeship Levy and look forward to seeing further detail on plans for Skills England.

We encourage the new Government to build on the positive screen policy interventions of recent years, working with industry to ensure our sector continues to grow and thrive, creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds, across the UK.
