I am incredibly excited to be joining ScreenSkills as the new Chief Executive. I am committed to supporting the careers of people across the screen industries. Whether that’s helping new starters or those who are mid-career and upskilling to move genre or role, ScreenSkills is here to support you on your journey. We all know how challenging it is at the moment, but I am looking forward to working with the team at ScreenSkills as well as our partners across the UK to support everyone to progress their careers.
In the first newsletter edition of the year, we are launching a survey about our Production Safety Passport (PSP). The safety of all production crew is of paramount importance. The PSP helps productions stay safe by ensuring crew and management have access to quality health and safety training. People who successfully complete a PSP approved course, obtain an online PSP certificate that is valid for 5 years.
As well as line producers, unit production managers or production managers, I would like to encourage any training providers who run PSP approved courses and freelancers who have completed PSP-endorsed training to complete the survey. Every response that we receive will help to ensure that we are providing the best training.
This issue also contains a number of training opportunities. From courses to improve your you software skills to mental health awareness, there are a range of courses to suit your current development needs.
We are also looking for mentors for our Film Forward programme and the Film Skills Fund is also hosting a seminar on the new tax credits for people working in the film industry. Both provide opportunities to develop your own career – either broadening your own industry knowledge or sharing your experiences to help other people with their own development.
I hope that you enjoy this edition of the Training and Opportunities newsletter and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year.
