This online module from ScreenSkills is designed to help you understand the purpose of mentoring, so you can decide whether working with a mentor will benefit you, either now or in the future.

We recommend completing this module in one sitting. However, if you are not able to do this, your progress will be saved, and when you come back to finish the module you will be taken to the last screen you completed.

When you are ready, hit the ‘start’ button to begin.

Module content

This module describes and explains:

  • What mentoring is
  • Who benefits from mentoring
  • The structure of the mentoring process
  • The mentee's roles and responsibilities
  • How a mentee can get the most out of their mentoring partnership.

Who it's for

This course is recommended for everyone who is currently working or wanting to work in the UK screen industries, which include film, TV, animation, visual effects (VFX) and games. It is designed for anyone who needs support to help them develop within their role or career, whether you decide to use the ScreenSkills Mentoring Network or set up a mentoring partnership yourself.

These modules were developed with support from the BFI, awarding National Lottery funds as part of its Future Film Skills strategy. Arts Council England supported the launch of the online learning platform.
