This programme is for individuals in the early stages of their career and already working in the TV industry as a runner, assistant, production secretary or production management assistant. It is an opportunity for those who are now ready to take the next step and focus on developing a career in production management. This programme is unique to the industry and designed for those who want to pursue a career in production management exclusively.

Please note this application is for the London training only. The London programme will take place on 21-29 October 2019.

Applications for training in Salford and Glasgow will open later in the year. Training in Salford will take place on 13-21 January 2020 and training in Glasgow will take place on 9-17 March 2020.

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Seven days intensive fast track training delivered by the BBC Academy and industry experts. This training will provide a comprehensive overview of the production coordinator role in the TV industry including working on documentaries, entertainment, drama, live studio and location filming
  • Three months paid work placement in a production company and industry mentor offered as part of the training programme
  • Industry networking event on the final evening of training

All placements and mentors to be matched to individuals and facilitated by The Televators production consultancy. The training programme is heavily subsidised with a fee of only £150. The fee is payable by successful delegates or their employers. There are bursaries available for those who are unable to pay.

Production management offers an exciting career path in TV and high levels of employability. The production coordinator holds a dynamic and challenging role which requires key skills and industry training. This fast track intensive training delivered by industry experts will cover:

  • Budgeting and scheduling
  • Setting up locations shoots in UK and rest of world
  • Planning and setting up a studio shoot
  • Leadership
  • Mental health awareness
  • Health and safety
  • Negotiation skills
  • Post-production workflow
  • Rights and clearances
  • Key production paperwork
  • Technical kit and technology

Unique to the industry, this programme also offers a three month individually matched paid work placement and industry mentor to consolidate the training. This bespoke opportunity ensures that all successful candidates are ready to step into a role as a junior production coordinator on completion of the programme.

In order to apply you should meet the following criteria:

  • You must have a minimum of six-to-nine months solid TV experience of working as a runner, production secretary, production management assistant or personal assistant or two or three production credits
  • You must love TV and consume screen content on a regular basis and know a 'must-watch' versus a 'binge-watch'
  • You must want to pursue a career specifically in production management. This is not an opportunity to develop an editorial career as a researcher, assistant producer or producer-director
  • You must have proven organisational, team working and scheduling skills
  • You must be able to attend all seven days of training
  • You must be able to work in the London area
  • You have the right to work in the UK
  • You can pay the £150 fee or intend to apply for a bursary - if successful, payment should be received by 21 October
  • You are able to attend an interview in London on 30 September or 1 October 2019
